Immigrants and their children make our societies more diverse. This is not only true for traditional immigration
countries like the USA and Canada, but also for large parts of Europe and the Middle East. For public
administration business and the private sector this is both a challenge and an opportunity. Public and private
employers are hiring from increasingly diverse labour markets and have to manage more heterogeneous
work forces. At the same time the retail business is confronted with a more diverse customer base growing
through migration. This offers plenty of opportunities for additional business. This keynote will take
a global look at recent trends in demographic changes around the globe, while focusing on challenges and
opportunities for the European labour market.
