Keynote Speaker: Mary-Frances Winters, President, TheWinters Group

We live in an increasingly diverse, and thus complex, global world. As we dig deeper to understand diversity and inclusion, the concept of multi-identities emerges. This is an area that has not been explored very much by practitioners outside of the academic sphere. The complexities of multiple identities manifest themselves from an individual, organizational, and national perspective. This keynote jointly prepared by WDLS-EU 2010 Keynote speaker Andrés Tapia and Mary-Frances Winters shall explore the key issues of multiple identities for individuals, organizations and nations; the implications for the workforce and society in general and how these issues will inform the next generation of diversity and inclusion work.

Why do diversity and inclusion programs often fail to produce sustainable results? Just as each of us has
a concealed mind, organizations are also dominated by concealed messages, values, and behaviours.
Concealed beliefs and cultural norms govern many of the most important decisions we make as both organizations
and individuals. These invisible thoughts and judgments regularly impact every aspect of organizational
life, especially hiring, performance management, succession planning and strategic decisions in
organizations.
Takeaways from this Keynote will include a deep a deep examination of how unconscious bias develops &
how it impacts people, groups and diversity efforts. Attendees will be confronted with opportunities on how
to begin a journey of self-awareness and understanding of their comfort or discomfort with other groups
and individuals.
