Shams Asadi is Vice-Independent Officer for Occupational Safety and Health of the City of Vienna & in charge of the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Office. The main tasks of Asadi’s office include, counselling and advice for disadvantaged individuals or groups who are subject to discrimination, mediations, networking, expert assessments and research studies She is one of the expert members of the Immigration Commission, which has been convened since 2009 to deliberate about key challenges and central areas of action resulting from future immigration in Vienna.
Shams was the head of a section in the Urban Development and Urban Planning’s department. Urban economy, international and European co-operations as well Diversity & Planning were the application areas of this unit. Providing an interface between the economic and social affairs and in particular dealing with the spatial socio-economic interactions in the city were some scopes of her activities area. She has been involved in many research studies and international projects on Migration, Gender Mainstreaming and Diversity.
She was the founding member of the consortium “Migration & Public Spaces” in Vienna. Shams Asadi has many years of practical and academically experiences in Urban Regeneration and Urban research.
